To our existing members, thank you for being a part of FINSOC. It’s great to have you back. And to our new members, a special warm welcome! We’re delighted to have you on board!
This year we have over 500 new members. Even though it was raining, Market Day recruitment proved a success, and many also signed up in the Welcome Party. For the first time, FINSOC (ANU branch) is offering free membership this year - thanks in large part to our very supportive sponsors - making FINSOC more accessible to everyone.
We are excited to bring you a whole series of new events in 2011. Here is a recap of three successful events we have already held this semseter:
1. Welcome Party
Our Welcome Party on the 25th of February at Kinloch Unilodge drew an enthusiastic crowd of old and new members engaging in an evening of great company and good food. Members were introduced to exciting events in the year ahead.
2. Macquarie Group Careers Presentation and Networking Session
A careers presentation and BBQ networking session was held with representatives from Macquarie on the 3rd of March. FINSOC members were privileged with a rare opportunity to ask the experts from Macquarie on what it takes to be recruited by Australia’s largest investment bank.
3. Goldman Sachs Careers Presentation and Networking Session*
An impressive crowd turned up for our careers presentation and networking session with Goldman Sachs on the 7th March. The afternoon saw great interaction between the bank’s representatives and members keen to hear first-hand advice on recruitment.
