At the start of 2008 Dorian Zalko (Currently Co-President) and Rob Klein (Now working at Merril Lynch IBD) from the ANU recognized need for a finance society at the ANU, thus ANU Investment Banking & Capital Markets Society (ANU IBC.Soc) was created. The society's primary goal was to create an open dialogue between high achieving students and the general financial sector. After merging with Finance & Banking Society in late 2009, ANU IBSOC changed its name to Finance & Banking Society – ANU Branch.

This year our members count grew significantly from around 80 to 250, and we will continue to grow in the coming year. This is credited to our hard working Directors, who have done and excellent job running general events including movie nights and drinks at the local bar.

We have also run several very successful events with year for our sponsors. In March, we organized a Goldman Sachs BBQ/Seminar, and they are keen to run several more workshops this year. We hope to develop this relationship further in order to acquire Goldman Sachs as a full sponsor next year.

For next semester we will be running Deloitte Corporate Finance valuation workshop and try to organize a derivatives seminar with wither Goldman Sachs or Credit Suisse.

We hope to further strengthen our ties with Finance & Banking Society Branches in Sydney in the coming years.
